Tiger Woods Makes Triumphant Return to the Golf Course Following Tumultuous Year

Tiger Woods appeared to be getting back in the swing of things while hitting the driving range on Tuesday, September 15.

According to TMZ, Woods, 50, was spotted at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey on Tuesday, where he is hosting his Nexus Cup charity event. The appearance stirred up buzz about a possible return to the sport professionally following his March arrest.

The four-time PGA Championship winner was arrested after rolling over his Land Rover while driving on Jupiter Island, Florida, in March. Woods — who refused to submit to a lawful urine test at the time — initially pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge.

However, Woods pleaded no contest to reckless driving on September 2, per TMZ. As First for Sports previously reported, as part of his plea deal, his DUI charge was reduced to reckless driving, second offense, which carries a $1,000 fine. A second charge related to his refusal to submit to a urinalysis test was reduced to a careless driving citation, according to documents obtained by First For Sports.

Both reduced charges carry a five-year suspension of Woods’ driver’s license, though the suspensions will run concurrently.

In June, per People, Woods also returned home after seeking treatment at a rehab facility in Switzerland.

On Tuesday, Alyn Golf founder Tisha Alyn took to Instagram Story, per Bleacher Report, to share a video of Woods hitting the green at the event in New Jersey. When asked where he’s at in his process, Woods — who appeared to be in good spirits — responded, “I can hit pretty much anything. I’m a little stiff today because, obviously, last night we were all having fun, hanging out.”
