Like most fans, Simone Biles was blown away by Serena Williams‘ tennis comeback to the US Open this year, four years after stepping away from the sport she dominated for years — so much so that the Olympic gymnast is planning to ask for advice.
“She is so incredible,” Biles, 29, gushed in a Tuesday, September 8 interview with People while attending the New York City tournament, in which the tennis legend had competed in doubles alongside her sister, Venus Williams, a week earlier.
“I actually need to text her like, ‘Hey, what are your thoughts?’ We need to catch up. We need to catch up,” she added of the fellow gold medalist, revealing that she’s open to more than just a chat.
Biles told the outlet she’d even like to train with the 23-time Grand Slam champ, 44, as well as current No. 4 seed, Coco Gauff, 22.
“I mean, she’s just the GOAT. Why not?” Biles, who is known for wearing a necklace and leotard bedazzled with a goat to symbolize her own standing in her sport. “Her, Coco, I feel like would both give me a run for my money because I cannot play tennis at all, but I feel like the vibes would be overall great.”

As for her own return to competition, specifically the 2028 Summer Olympics in LA?
“No breaking news tonight,” joked Biles.
The 11-time Olympic medalist previously told CNN Sports in April that she hadn’t made up her mind yet.
“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50,” Biles told the outlet. “We’re still on a time crunch here. Now it’s almost half of 2026, so we’re gonna have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”
