WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has canceled his appearance at the Washington State Horror Con, citing a blood clot in his leg. He shared the news with fans in a lengthy message posted Friday, October 23.

Flair, 77, is widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever. He was scheduled to appear at the convention on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. The event runs from October 23 to 25. Autographs were priced at $120, while photos, selfies, or a combination of the two ran between $120 and $200.

“Unfortunately, I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg, and my doctors have limited my travel to 3–4 hours,” Flair wrote on X. “Seattle falls outside that range, and as disappointed as I am, I have to put my health and recovery first.”

He went on to stress how serious blood clots can be, pointing to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts as an example.

As First for Sports previously reported, the 28-year-old Hurts was first diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his left calf. Additional testing revealed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs. He will miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season while he recovers.

According to Flair, doctors plan to remove the affected vein, and he expects to be cleared to travel once his treatment is finished. It’s not yet clear whether he’ll be ready for his next scheduled appearance, the Big Event EXS on Saturday, November 14, in New York.

“Please know this decision was not made lightly,” Flair added. “I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment, and I am incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support.”

Fans responded with plenty of both in the comments. Some shared their own frightening experiences with blood clots, but the majority praised Flair for putting his health first.

“Glad you took precautions you legend you!” one fan wrote.

Another commented, “You have to be admired for following your doctors advice. Not everybody takes good advice!”
